SYLVAIN C RAYMOND

I was born in the small town of Roberval on the south shore of Lake St.John in Northern Quebec on January 20th 1958 and a few months later, I was apparently dropped on the floor of the covered bridge in the small village of St.Methodius where the family lived until 1963. As a toddler, it was said I would throw a fit if we happened to go by that bridge or any other of the kind and not cross them. The covered bridge in the village of St. Methodius was demolished in 1965 but my bridge crossing reflex is still with me to this day.

I went to School in the small town of Arvida, now part of greater Saguenay, attended colleges and design schools in Montreal, Detroit and Toronto and I am now a Graphic Design. A career change is looming and I hope to be able to relocate soon in Southeast Asia to teach English and study history.

I started ATAWALK in 1995 and hope to see it grow into a showcase for all related industries and for the people who are active in all aspects of covered bridge affairs around the globe. Personally, I like all sorts of covered bridges and my definition is wide and will encompass bridges that are "COVERED" with a roof and that can be made of steel, and stone but preferably and not exclusively made of wood.

Urban bridges are a valid evolution of the species and can be amazing structures to visit and exist in almost every large town or city on earth. ATAWALKwill present information on a variety of structures and let the public decide and chose the destination and the bridges they wish to visit.

THE GOAL is to make ATAWALK a fascinating spot to promote and encourage travel to the next town, the next county or the next continent, it is also to make the information accessible without searching for that little flag-translation button that never really works. ATAWALK will be in as many language as we can fit in and retain some kind of cohesion! For this alone, ATAWALK is a special issue be it in print, in spirit or on line. Nothing says WELCOME like seing it in a language you are familiar with!

Je suis née dans la petite ville de Roberval sur la rive sud du Lac Saint-Jean le 20 janvier 1958 et fut échapper par erreur quelques mois plus tard sur le plancher du pont couvert de St-Méthode ou j'allais vivre avec ma famille jusqu'en 1963. Comme jeune enfant, je piquais donc une crise chaque fois que je voyais un pont couvert si on ne m'y amenait pas sur le champ pour le traverser... au moins une fois. Le ponts couvert du village de St-Méthode fut démancher en 1965, mais le reflexe de traversage de pont couvert lui, est toujours présent dans mes habitudes.

J'ai fait mes études à Arvida, maintenant un secteur de Saguenay et j'ai aussi fait des études à Montréal, Détroit et Toronto ou je suis toujours un graphiste. Un changement de carrière se fera sous peu car je compte partirt pour le sud-est Asiatique pour y ensigner l'Anglais... et y étudier l'histoire.

J'ai initier ATAWALK (au pas de marche) en 1995 et j'espère pouvoir le transformer en transformer en une vitrine pour toutes les industries connexes et pour les gens qui sont actifs dans tous les aspects « pontcouvertois » autour du globe. Personnellement, j'aime toutes sortes de ponts couverts et ma définition est large et englobera les ponts qui sont « couverts » avec un toit et qui peuvent être faits d'acier et de pierre, mais de préférence, et non pas exclusivement fait de bois .

Selon moi, les ponts couverts URBAINS sont une évolution très valable de l'espèce et peuvent être d'étonnantes structures à visiter, et ils existent dans presque toutes les granves villes de la terre. ATAWALK présentes les informatons sur une variétée de structures et laissera le public décider et choisir la destination et les ponts qu'ils désirera visiter.

L'objectif est de faire un d'ATAWALK un spot fascinant pour promouvoir et favoriser les déplacements à la ville voisine, au comté voisin ou sur le prochain continent, et de rendre l'information accessible, sans chercher le bouton avec le petit drapeau de traduction qui ne fonctionne jamais vraiment. ATAWALK sera en autant de langue qu'il nous sera possible d'intégrer tout en conservant notre cohésion! Rien que pour cela, ATAWALK est un endroit spécial que ce soit sous forme imprimée, en esprit ou en ligne. Rien ne dit BIENVENUE comme de le voir dans une langue que vous connaissez!

Ich war in der kleinen Stadt Roberval am Südufer des St. John See in Nord-Quebec am 20. Januar 1958 geboren und wenige Monate später, ich war anscheinend auf dem Boden der überdachten Brücke in dem kleinen Dorf St.Methodius wo die Familie bis 1963 lebte gesunken. Als Kleinkind wurde gesagt, ich würde einen Anfall auslösen, wenn wir durch die Brücke oder einer anderen von der Art zu gehen und nicht über ihnen passiert ist. Die überdachte Brücke in der Ortschaft St. Methodius wurde 1965 abgerissen, aber meine Brücke über Reflex ist immer noch bei mir bis zum heutigen Tag.

Ich ging zur Schule in der kleinen Stadt Arvida, jetzt Teil von größeren Saguenay, besuchte Hochschulen und Design-Schulen in Montreal, Detroit und Toronto, und ich bin jetzt ein Graphic Designe. Eine berufliche Veränderung steht bevor und ich hoffe, dass wir bald umziehen in Südostasien auf Englisch und Geschichte studieren zu lehren.

Persönlich mag ich alle Arten von überdachten Brücken und meiner Definition ist breit und wird Brücken, die "FALLEN" sind mit einem Dach und können aus Stahl und Stein, sondern vorzugsweise und nicht ausschließlich aus Holz umfassen.

Städtische Brücken sind eine gültige Evolution der Arten und können erstaunliche Strukturen zu besuchen und in almiost jeder größeren Stadt auf der Erde existieren. ATAWALKwill vorliegenden Informationen über eine Vielzahl von Strukturen und lassen das Publikum entscheiden und wählte das Ziel und die Brücken sie besuchen möchten.

DAS ZIEL ist es, ATAWALK ein faszinierender Ort zu fördern und zu reisen, um in die nächste Stadt, die nächste Kreis-oder dem nächsten Kontinent, ist es auch, die Informationen zugänglich sind, ohne Suche nach dem Fähnchen-Übersetzung Taste, die nie wirklich funktioniert.
